Science Café Little Rock, co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will hold its next public forum, The Science of Memory, on April 25. Panelists will discuss human memory and its relationship to sleep, behavior, memory decline and brain function.

Science Café will be from 7-9 p.m. at Whole Hog Café, 12111 W. Markham St. Science Café is a relaxed opportunity for monthly exchanges with various experts. No reservations are needed, but seating is limited. Admission is free.

Rachel Schichtl MS, RDN, CFCS was awarded the 2017 Outstanding Dietetic Educator of the Year award by the Arkansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Schichtl is an instructor and DPD director of nutrition in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Central Arkansas.

CHI St. Vincent and UnitedHealthcare announced today they have now finalized the terms of an agreement to continue access for all UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored and individual health plans to CHI St. Vincent hospitals, physicians and other services. The new contract also includes Medicare health plans, giving more members in the community access to CHI St. Vincent hospitals and physicians.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will offer free oral, head and neck cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 21 on the sixth floor of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

Screenings are noninvasive, take about 10 minutes and are conducted by the UAMS Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery under the direction of  surgical oncologist Mauricio Moreno, MD, and resident physician Juliana Bonilla Velez, MD.
