For the first time in the history of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) student awards competition, students of the UAMS College of Pharmacy took home all four national awards for patient care and education.

They garnered the historic win March 27 in San Francisco during the APhA annual meeting.

Pre-K teachers participated in hands-on activities they can take back to their classrooms to teach students how the heart and lungs work during a UAMS Partners in Health Sciences workshop April 8.

Teachers received a take-home kit with a “dissectible” plastic heart model, a lung demonstration apparatus, plastic model of an artery and more. The workshop and supplies are part of the Partners in Health Sciences program, which offers free professional development for Pre-K teachers.

The Partners in Health Sciences (PIHS) program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is celebrating 25 years of promoting science education for PreK-12 teachers/school nurses statewide.

As part of the celebration, pre-K teachers participated in hands-on activities they can take back to their classrooms to teach students how the heart and lungs work during a UAMS Partners in Health Sciences workshop April 8.

Three computer classes — Introduction to Computers Windows 10, Microsoft Excel, and Fundamentals for Computers  —  and three workshops — One-on-One Computer Support, Tips & Tricks: iPhone & iPad, and Computer Maintenance — will be taught in May for people ages 50 and older at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.

The University of Central Arkansas, along with The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), is proud to announce that the profession of occupational therapy is turning 100 years old this year.

The University of Central Arkansas Department of Occupational Therapy will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the profession with an event, “Cheers to 100 Years,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at UCA Downtown, 1105 Oak Street.
