Arkansas Children’s has hired Brent Thompson, JD, to lead its legal services division as senior vice president and chief legal officer. He joins the state’s only healthcare system dedicated to children on Jan. 7.

Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) has promoted Chief of Neurology Greg Sharp, MD, to senior vice president and chief medical officer after a national search.

Sharp, who also serves as a professor of pediatrics and neurology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine, began serving in the role as he transitioned from his previous leadership positions starting Dec. 17.

Losing a loved one is difficult for everyone, and grieving that loss is essential to accepting painful feelings and creating an opportunity for growth and a new sense of normal. Methodist Family Health’s Kaleidoscope Grief Center is hosting a training for volunteers from 5:30-8 p.m. in the second floor training room at Methodist Family Health, 1600 Aldersgate Rd. in Little Rock, on Jan. 21, 2019. Volunteers will assist in family peer support group and Kaleidoscope’s Kids Club.

Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have been awarded a $10,000 grant to create an app that promotes total wellness and healthy living habits in Arkansas students.

The grant comes from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, after UAMS was selected one of 10 winners nationally in the Using Technology to Prevent Childhood Obesity in Low-Income Families and Communities Challenge.
