Laura Hollenbach, MD, an assistant professor in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine, has become the first and only physician in Arkansas to be board-certified in obstetrics-gynecology with focused practice designation in pediatric and adolescent gynecology.

Baptist Health opened its sixth urgent care center in Little Rock last month and will celebrate with the public at a ribbon cutting today at 11 a.m. The new center is located at 6805 Cantrell Road by Stein Mart. 

The urgent care center treats pain and medical conditions that are non-life threatening. With no appointment needed, patients are seen on a walk-in basis.

Arkansas Children’s has named Jimmy Duncan, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, as its new senior vice president and chief people officer. He leads the health system’s Human Resources division.

The Arkansas Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program will continue normal operations, even after the federal government shutdown. WIC participants and vendors will be able to sign up for and participate in the program as usual.

Applicants can still come to their local health unit or WIC-only clinic and receive their normal services. For those who are already in the program, they will still be able to redeem their benefits at their local vendor.
