The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the opening of its Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation Oral Health Clinic with a ceremony to mark its expansion into a newly remodeled space.

The renovated area adds 3,490 square feet to the clinic’s existing footprint. With the expansion, the 12,800 square-foot clinic now has four new dental hygiene operatories for a total of 15, supporting three full-time hygienists and enhancing patient appointment availability.

Arkansas Children’s continues its annual streak on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals list, celebrating national rankings for seven of its service lines for the second year in a row.

The seven ranking specialty services are among the best in the nation, according to the list, published online. 

The following programs are ranked on the 2023/2024 Best Children’s Hospitals list: 

-Cancer (40, highest-ever ranking)

-Cardiology & Heart Surgery (45)

-Diabetes & Endocrinology (44)

-Nephrology (34)

-Orthopedics (45)

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is celebrating its newly opened 12th Street Community Café at 3999 W. 12th St., as part of the grand opening of the city’s 12th Street Center.

Operated by employees of the UAMS Department of Nutrition Services, the café is located inside the center, which has been home to a Little Rock Police Department station since 2014.

Two Mercy critical access hospitals in Arkansas recently were named “best practice” hospitals for quality by the Chartis Center for Rural Health. 

Mercy hospitals in Booneville and Waldron, Arkansas, were ranked in the Top 20 for quality, joining just 18 other hospitals across the country in receiving the designation. Mercy hospitals in Kingfisher, Tishomingo, and Logan County, Okla., also received the honor.
