Following an extensive national executive management search, Arkansas Children’s has hired Chanda Cashen Chacón, MPH, FACHE, as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO). The announcement was made by ACH President and Chief Executive Officer Marcy Doderer, FACHE.
W. James Chon, MD, has been named medical director of the Renal Transplant Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Chon will also serve as an associate professor of medicine in the College of Medicine.
Yesterday, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, alongside Arkansas Surgeon General Dr. Greg Bledsoe, Arkansas Dept. of Health Director Dr. Nate Smith, and other members of the medical community, including Dr. Rick Smith, Psychiatrist and Addiction Specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science, spoke out against the marijuana ballot proposals.
Peter Kohler, MD, is retiring as vice chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ northwest Arkansas campus, effective Dec. 31. He will continue to work part time, seeing patients and conducting research in the Center for Pacific Islander Health.
Baptist Health recently dedicated its newest hospital in a ceremony in Conway with the help of Gov.Asa Hutchinson. The governor, along with Baptist Health President and CEO Troy Wells, Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway Vice President and Administrator Joanie White-Wagoner, and community leaders spoke during the event. Pastor Don Chandler of Central Baptist Church offered a dedication prayer.
