Make 2017 the year you quit smoking for good, with help from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The small-group Freedom from Smoking program will meet from 4-5:30 p.m. for seven Wednesdays beginning Jan. 4 in room 10104 on the 10th floor of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. There is no cost to participate.

With the latest integration of IV pumps to Epic, Baptist Health’s electronic medical records, the healthcare system says it is the first in the state to have CareFusion IV pumps that communicate with an Epic EMR system.

Updating the firmware/software on the existing CareFusion Alaris pumps allowed the two to be compatible. With the systems integrated, there will be less duplicative reporting and inefficient workflow.

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced the arrest of a Little Rock woman. Evitta Walker, 34, was arrested and held at the Pulaski County Detention Facility on a $2,500 bond. She is charged with one count of Medicaid fraud, a Class C felony. She is accused of billing over $1,000 for services that she was not eligible to charge for in 2015.
