CHI St. Vincent Morrilton has been named the winner of an Excellence in Patient Care Award for outstanding performance in emergency department patient care. The award was presented recently at the 15th annual “What’s Right in Health Care” conference in Chicago.

To be considered for the award, an organization must rank in the 75th percentile or higher for overall emergency department satisfaction, as measured by patient surveys.

The award is presented by Studer Group, which works with healthcare providers to improve clinical, operational, and financial results.

Kevin D. Young, PhD, has been appointed chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

Young has served as a professor in the department since 2009. He succeeds Richard P. Morrison, PhD, who became the college’s executive associate dean for research on Aug. 1.

The squat position is a lost art in Western culture. What was once a distinctly natural and human movement for resting, and working closely to the ground with one’s hands, is now rarely used outside of performance programs and gyms.

“You Don’t Know Squat,” a workshop focusing on the squat position, will be led by Paul Fajer on Sept. 2 from 1-2 p.m. at the Arkansas Yoga Collective, 7801 Cantrell Rd., Suite D in Little Rock.
