Jerad M. Gardner, MD, an assistant professor in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine’s departments of pathology and dermatology, was recently appointed as a deputy editor-in-chief of the Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.
The husband and wife duo, Drs. Richard Chastain and Laura Lester, have recently joined the medical team at Baptist Health Family Clinic-Malvern.
“A patient’s hospital bed can be looked at as a place for a patient to rest or it can be a device that actually helps in the patient’s treatment,” said Joanie White-Wagoner, vice president and administrator for Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway. “Every patient room at our Conway hospital has a smart bed. These beds are integrated with our clinical documentation system making it a high tech tool for care givers. By collecting data independently, the beds also increase convenience for the patient.”
A series of free lunchtime lectures focused on coping with dementia will be held on Wednesdays through Sept. 14 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.
Presented by the Reynolds Institute’s Walker Memory Center, each one-hour “Lunch and Learn — For Patients and Families” session will start at noon with a 20-minute lecture and followed by a 40-minute question and answer discussion.

Pharmacists (AAHP) Academy at its 134th Annual Convention held June 23-25 at the Embassy Suites and Convention Center in Hot Springs. She is a clinical pharmacist at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and an association professor at UAMS College of Pharmacy.
