The Harding University Carr College of Nursing announced that all 15 members of its December 2016 graduating class have passed their national licensing exam, the NCLEX-RN. All of the graduates received a passing grade in their first attempt at the exam.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed a proclamation declaring March 5-11 AmeriCorps Week in Arkansas, recognizing the dedicated volunteers and the programs that benefit from their service across the state with a focus this year on hunger relief.

Arkansas is ranked second in the nation in household food insecurity and first in senior hunger, according to the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance.

Pre-pharmacy students at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) may be able to transfer early to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy under a new program to help recruit qualified students from rural and underserved areas in Arkansas.

The Rural Health Early Admissions Program was created by the universities recently through a memorandum of understanding.

More than 100 Arkansas college students learned how to perform various medical procedures on mannequins during a workshop to introduce them to careers in medicine. The event, held March 11 at UAMS, included the procedures of intubating, performing an endoscopy, performing a physical exam and working in an anatomy lab with preserved specimens.

These interactive sessions are part of the Minority Association of Pre-medical Students (MAPS) Conference at UAMS. The event targeted underrepresented college students and post-baccalaureate students interested in medical school.
