UAMS Medical Center recently won the Most Wired Award, for the third year in a row, from the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum Inc.

The hospital, part of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), has won the distinction 10 times. UAMS is one of only four hospitals in Arkansas to earn the honor for 2017. They include Unity Health in Searcy, White River Medical Center in Batesville—which was recognized with an award for Most Improved—and Stone County Medical Center in Mountain View, receiving an award for Most Wired – Small and Rural.

Students in the University of Central  Arkansas Department of Physical Therapy received the Award of Excellence, and the Biggest Stretch Award for the 2016-2017 VCU-Marquette Challenge from the Foundation for Physical Therapy.

The Award of Excellence is given to schools that raise $10,000, or more, for the Challenge.

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) hosted a media briefing and training to support the launch of the Arkansas Food Inspection Portal. A team of University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) research scientists recently received a $422,610 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the mechanisms of control of emotional responses of men and women, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

Tom Roberts, MD, has joined Conway Regional Health System as medical director of a new sports medicine program, as part of the formation of the Conway Regional Center for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. In his role, and in partnership with other physicians on staff at Conway Regional, Dr. Roberts will help to oversee six full-time athletic trainers across Faulkner County.
