Baptist Health Urgent Care will open a seventh urgent care center in Fort Smith on Sept. 16. The new center will be located at 7600 Rogers Ave., by Hank’s Furniture. 

Baptist Health, in a joint venture with Urgent Team, one of the Southeast’s largest independent operators of urgent and family care centers, currently has urgent care centers in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Jacksonville, Cabot, Bryant, and Benton.

David D. Walker, MD, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an otologist/neurotologist specializing in disorders of the middle and inner ear and treating hearing loss, including cochlear implantation.

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine - Arkansas – in collaboration with UAMS, St. Bernards Medical Center, and Arkansas State University – will host a free health screening in Leachville on Aug. 13. The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Buffalo Island Central Elementary School, located at 1100 Nelson Street in Leachville. 

There is no cost for the screenings and no appointments are necessary. All ages are invited to attend, and no insurance is required.

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine on the campus of Arkansas State University hosted its annual White Coat Ceremony to honor the NYITCOM Class of 2023. The event was held at the Fowler Center on the A-State campus.

After receiving their medical white coats, the Class of 2023 took the white coat student oath.
