Robin Singh, MD, has joined Arkansas Cardiology/Baptist Health Heart Institute as a member alongside his father, Dr. Balkrishna Singh.
Singh, a native of Little Rock, graduated from Duke University and earned a medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
The National Institutes of Health has awarded $3.1 million to a scientist at Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to study how maternal obesity during pregnancy influences infant brain development.
CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs has named Tiffany McCain as director of pharmacy. McCain has 16 years of experience as a pharmacist, most recently as a clinical pharmacist with CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs where she was instrumental in implementing, operating, and maintaining the operating-room satellite pharmacy.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a new study on Aug. 6 about pharmacy-based naloxone dispensing, which showed the rate of naloxone prescription was far too low in relation to the number of high-dose opioid prescriptions. Naloxone is a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and prevent overdose deaths, and can be administered in a nasal spray called Narcan.
People concerned about spots on their skin are invited to participate in a free skin cancer screening from 9 a.m. - noon on Sept. 14 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The screenings will take place on the second floor of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, and will be conducted by the UAMS Department of Dermatology.
