CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs has received national Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for its continued commitment to nursing excellence and compassionate patient care. Magnet designation is the highest honor bestowed upon an organization for professional nursing practice and recognizes excellence in nursing leadership, clinical practice, innovations, and positive outcomes. People who had recently been in the hospital were 24 times less likely to develop a COVID-19 infection than the general population, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) researchers found in a study that used data from 45 hospitals.
The study focused on people who had been in the hospital for conditions not related to COVID-19. Among the 101,533 patients, only 44 (0.043%) tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of discharge from the hospital. By comparison, the percentage of positive COVID-19 patients among the total U.S. population is 1.035%.
Northwest Medical Center - Springdale’s Emergency Department (ED) has achieved the gold standard — Level I accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians’ (ACEP) Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) program. It is the first in Arkansas to achieve this milestone, as well as 12th in the nation to earn Level I gold status.
Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have been awarded $1.3 million to study disparities in immune response to SARS-CoV-2, known as COVID-19, through serological testing in Arkansas.
Serological testing measures a person’s immune response to an infection in the form of antibodies in the blood.
The project will contribute to short- and long-term impact of COVID-19 and the pandemic on the physical, psychological, and social health of underrepresented minority men and women in Arkansas.
Arkansas Surgical Hospital has opened two Arkansas Surgical Hospital Specialty Clinic locations in Russellville and Hot Springs Village.
Specialists from Bowen Hefley Orthopedics, Little Rock Neurosurgery, and Martin Orthopedics will see patients at the Russellville clinic. Neurological Surgery Associates, Martin Orthopedics, and Bowen Hefley Orthopedics will see patients at the Hot Springs Village clinic. Staff are in the clinics on a rotating basis.
