Conway Regional Health System announced the opening of the Conway Regional Maternal Fetal Medicine Center. The center is located on the hospital campus at 2200 Ada Ave., Suite 200, and is led by perinatologist Dawn S. Hughes, MD, Stacey M. Johnson, APRN, and sonographers Jyl Sullivan and Kristen Thomsen.
Patricia Cowan, PhD, RN, the dean of the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS) College of Nursing, was selected as an on-site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an accrediting agency for baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.
Cowan was officially selected as an evaluator in September of 2021 and completed training in November. She will begin serving as an evaluator in spring of 2022. On-site evaluators travel to different regions of the country to assess nursing programs at institutions in all 50 states.
Arkansas Urology announced that Ashley Lawhon of Little Rock as their new chief nursing officer.
“Ashley’s more than 18 years in the medical field and extensive experience in surgical and management settings makes her an invaluable asset,” said E. Scot Davis, CEO of Arkansas Urology. “Her experience and leadership is exactly what we need for our ever-growing practice.”
Psychiatrist Brian T. Hyatt, MD, has been elected as vice chair of the Arkansas State Medical Board. He has served as a congressional district member of the board since his appointment by Gov. Asa Hutchinson in 2019.
Hyatt is the medical director for behavioral health services for Northwest Health. In addition to overseeing all psychiatric care provided through the Northwest Health system of facilities, Hyatt directs care on the inpatient behavioral care unit at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale.
Methodist Family Health recently promoted Amanda Bolls Smith, CFRE, to executive director of Methodist Family Health Foundation, and has hired Eva Englert-Jessen as its director of pastoral care.
Amanda Smith is a native Arkansan, born and raised in Little Rock. She grew up in Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. She graduated high school from Little Rock Central High and then from Hendrix College, with her BA, majoring in sociology and minoring in psychology.
