New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University has hired Kristin Cohen, PhD, as assistant dean of student administration and Rajendram Rajnarayanan, PhD, as assistant dean of research. The announcement was made by Dean Shane Speights, DO.

People with chronic painful diabetic neuropathy are being enrolled in a University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) research study of a spinal cord stimulation device designed to reduce the pain.

Led at UAMS by Erika Petersen, MD, a neurosurgeon and researcher, the study is part of a clinical trial being conducted at sites across the United States.

General surgeon Dr. Bertrand Fonji has joined Baptist Health Surgical and Specialty Clinic-Conway on the campus of Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway.

Fonji, who has spent eight years in medicine, studied at SUNY Downstate Medical School in New York and completed a residency at Orlando Health in Florida. He is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Fonji practiced at three hospitals in the Orlando area, including Orlando Health, and additionally practiced at Baptist Health in Corbin, Ky.
