Methodist Family Health will dedicate its newest facility, the Mike Millar Spiritual Life Center, at 10 a.m. at 2002 S. Fillmore St. in Little Rock on Feb. 28.
Methodist Family Health Foundation raised $4.2 million to construct the center, which is named in memory of Mike Millar, a lifelong United Methodist from Searcy, Ark. He served on both Methodist Family Health’s operations and foundation boards of directors. Millar was an attorney, philanthropist, and volunteer who died in 2020.
Baptist Health is now offering a treatment option for those suffering from an advanced form of peripheral artery disease (PAD) in which the plaque blockage also includes the presence of calcium.
The treatment from Shockwave Medical Inc. is available at the healthcare organization’s campuses in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, and Fort Smith.
New nutrition standards announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture propose school lunches with less sugar and salt, starting in the 2025-2026 school year.
Limits would impact sugary foods, including sweetened cereals, flavored milks, and yogurt.
The ultimate goal is to restrict added sugars to less than 10% of total calories a week for school meals.
CHI St. Vincent will host a series of free, community blood pressure screening events in February in celebration of Heart Month. The free screenings in Little Rock, Hot Springs, and Morrilton are part of a month-long effort to encourage Arkansans to take responsibility for their heart health.
