Baptist Health is now performing bariatric surgery with the da Vinci Xi surgical system by Intuitive. The system is designed with the goal of further advancing technology used in minimally invasive care.
“We’re thrilled to be among the first in Arkansas to offer the latest development in robotic-assisted bariatric surgery – the da Vinci Xi system,” said Julie Nix, corporate vice president of surgery, women's and children's, and rehabilitation services at Baptist Health. “As the leader in surgical weight loss, Baptist Health strives to utilize the most state-of-the-art technology to provide compassionate, quality care.”
By enabling efficient access throughout the abdomen or chest, the da Vinci Xi system expands upon core da Vinci system features, including wristed instruments, 3DHD visualization, intuitive motion, and an ergonomic design.
As with all da Vinci surgical systems, the surgeon is 100% in control of the robotic-assisted da Vinci system, which translates their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments.
Just some of the benefits of the da Vinci Xi system include a faster recovery, shorter hospital stay, lower risk of complications, and quicker return to normal activities.
Backed by the state’s most trusted health care system, Baptist Health Bariatric Center-Little Rock is designated as a Bariatric Center of Excellence and a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Institute of Quality. This designation identifies the surgical team and program as providing quality, effective care for patients before and after surgery.
