Katy A. Marino, MD, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as a thoracic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgery of the chest.
She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine.
She completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tenn., and in thoracic surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kent.
Thoracic surgeons have specialized training in both benign and malignant diseases in the thorax, the cavity between the neck and abdomen. This includes the lungs, esophagus, thymus, and chest wall.
