The 15th Annual Midsouth Summit Black Expo, presented by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will celebrate Black History Month by bringing together the community for a day of health education, business empowerment, entertainment and shopping.
The expo is scheduled Feb. 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Metroplex Event Center, 10800 Colonel Glenn Road. Admission is free.
The UAMS MammoVan mobile mammography unit will be on hand to provide mammograms. To make an appointment or determine if you qualify for services, call (800) 259-8794.
Participants can also get colorectal cancer screening kits to complete in the privacy of their own home, as well as free prostate and other cancer health education.
Beyond health outreach, the event includes live musical entertainment, including a Battle of the Bands; local vendors for clothing, jewelry and arts; food trucks; ACT preparation sessions for students; and business seminars.
