Jacksonville Health Unit Holds Grand Reopening

The Jacksonville Health Unit, the City of Jacksonville, Pulaski County Community Services, and the Arkansas Department of Health recently hosted the Grand Reopening of the Jacksonville Health Unit, located at 3000 N. First Street.

The ribbon cutting ceremony included speeches from Mayor Gary Fletcher, ADH Center Director for Local Public Health Don Adams, and Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde. A tour of the new facilities followed the ceremony.

The Jacksonville Health Unit was updated in order to better serve a growing community with various needs, increase its overall size, and improve the overall experience for visitors. The health unit will now be able to serve up to 51 appointments every day, an increase from its former 20-appointment maximum. The other additions include an updated clerical check-in section for client privacy, an increased WIC area for breastfeeding and counseling, and an updated waiting room which will now host up to 40 clients instead of the former 15.

The update was possible through a collected $600,000 from local tax funds, cash donations, and in-kind services.
