Endocrinologist Freddy Toloza Bonilla, MD, Joins UAMS

Endocrinologist Freddy Toloza Bonilla, MD, MHSc, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an assistant professor for the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism within the College of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine.

Toloza Bonilla is an endocrinologist specializing in thyroid and parathyroid disorders, with expertise in thyroid cancer. He provides care for patients with thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and parathyroid disease.

After receiving a medical degree from the Universidad de los Andes School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia, Toloza Bonilla completed an internal medicine residency at Metrowest Medical Center, a teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine, in Massachusetts. He then completed a combined clinical and research fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He also earned a Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) in Clinical Research from the Duke University School of Medicine.

Toloza Bonilla has more than a decade of research experience, including serving as a postdoctoral research fellow at UAMS with Spyridoula Maraka, MD.

Toloza Bonilla is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Thyroid Association and the Endocrine Society.

He is accepting new patients at the Head and Neck Oncology Clinic on the seventh floor of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
