The Arkansas Department of Health will present Stop the Bleed medical kits to the Arkansas Department of Education, a partner in the Arkansas Stop the Bleed program. Stop the Bleed trains bystanders to be immediate volunteer responders and to act quickly in the event of a trauma to save lives until professional emergency responders can arrive on the scene.
The event will take place on Feb. 6 at 9 a.m.in the 5th floor briefing room of the Arkansas Department of Health, 4815 W. Markham St. in Little Rock.
Trauma is the number one cause of death for Arkansans between the age of 1 and 45. The first five minutes after a trauma are crucial. Immediate volunteer responders who are trained in Stop the Bleed techniques can make a life or death difference to a person who is injured. They are able to provide basic trauma care before professional responders arrive on the scene.
Arkansas is leading the nation in the training of law enforcement and school personnel in these techniques. Through a grant from ADH, Arkansas’s Stop the Bleed Program will provide wall-mounted public access trauma kits to more than 300 schools that have participated in the training across Arkansas.
