Rachael Rickford, APRN, recently joined the team at Baptist Health High Risk Breast & Hereditary Cancer Clinic in Little Rock.

Rickford, a Maumelle native, received a medical education from Arkansas State University. She specializes in genetics and high-risk breast cancer management.

“I want all women to feel heard and cared for as an individual,” she said.

COPD, which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema, is long-term, progressive and makes it hard to breathe. There is currently no cure for COPD, but the disease is treatable. As the month comes to a close, the American Lung Association is driving attention to its recently released COPD State Briefs, which include data about prevention, diagnosis, health outcomes and treatment of the disease for all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The State Briefs found that Arkansas has one of the highest COPD prevalence rates in the country.

To commemorate World Aids Day, Jefferson Comprehensive Care System Inc (JCCSI) in partnership with Delta Eta & the Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, will be providing free primary care exams from now until the end of December at their Pine Bluff, Altheimer, College Station, Redfield, North Little Rock, AR Baptist Campus, and Little Rock (University Ave.) locations. An HIV blood test will be included in the exam.

The Delta Dental of Arkansas Board of Directors has approved a $35,000 Grant to Conway Regional Interfaith Dental Clinic to improve oral health access and awareness.  

"Access to dental care is foundational to an individual's overall health and wellness. We are thankful to the Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation for supporting high quality, low-cost dental care to children and adults throughout north Central Arkansas," said Matt Troup, president and CEO of Conway Regional Health System.
