People concerned about spots on their skin are invited to participate in a free skin cancer screening from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The screenings will take place on the second floor of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis and are encouraged to arrive no later than 3 p.m. Free parking is available in UAMS Parking 3 at Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue. For information, call (501) 686-7546.

The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, in partnership with the Arkansas Area Agencies on Aging, has announced the 2016 nominees for the Senior Arkansans Hall of Fame and inducted three.

Keith Laverne Hamm of Berryville, Phil McBee of Pine Bluff and Harriet Raley of Searcy were recognized at a luncheon during the 20th Biennial Silver Haired Legislative Session at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock. The nominees included Charlie Baxter, Georgia Childers and Dan Trevathan.

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has reached a settlement, along with 47 other states, with Cephalon and affiliated companies. The settlement ends a multistate investigation into anticompetitive conduct by Cephalon to protect its monopoly on the drug market, bringing in major profits for its landmark wakefulness drug, Provigil. Due to its conduct, Cephalon delayed generic, cheaper versions of Provigil from entering the market for several years.
