The Winston Clinic in Sheridan is one of the 27 Aledade accountable care organization (ACO) partner practices across the country that will be a part of the Million Hearts Initiative’s Cardiovascular Disease Risk Reduction Model (CVDRRM), an innovative program testing a new approach to lowering a patient’s risk of heart attack or stroke. These practices will receive incentive payments and recognition for the work they do to help manage cardiovascular risk with their patients.
The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) announces the election of its new board members:
University of Central Arkansas psychology student, Emily Hahn, was selected as one of four recipients for a scholarship from Psi Chi International Honor Society. The Psi Chi Undergraduate Scholarship, worth $3,000, was awarded to four students out of 95 applicants. Hahn was the only Arkansas recipient.
Toxicity is a common reason many drugs are pulled from market and new drug leads fail. Avoiding this outcome requires knowing when drugs are likely to cause toxicity.
As a step in this direction, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) researcher Grover P. Miller, PhD, and collaborators have published a manuscript in the journal ACS Central Science describing their development of a model that predicts the reactivity of molecules toward biological molecules as possible causes underlying drug toxicity.
