The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is collaborating with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Celgene Corp. to compile the largest set of high-quality genetic data related to myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells in the blood.
Dr. Jimmy Ishee, dean of the University of Central Arkansas College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, was selected as the 2017 Distinguished Administrator of the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education (NAKHE).
Ishee’s award ceremony will take place Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 in Orlando during the 2017 NAKHE Conference.
Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced the convictions of two Arkansans for Medicaid fraud.
Jennifer Casey, formerly of Benton County and currently of Pulaski County, pleaded guilty in Pulaski County Circuit Court in October and was recently sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay a $750 fine and court costs. She has already repaid $9,000 in restitution to the Medicaid Program Trust Fund.
The Arkansas Department of Human Services’ Division of Medical Services (DMS) has released the results of its 2016 Patient Engagement Satisfaction Survey, which included both patient and provider surveys. DMS contracted with AFMC, a National Committee for Quality Assurance- (NCQA) certified Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) survey vendor, to conduct the study.
Members of the local CARTI Auxiliary are set to bring a seasonal glow to the White County Courthouse on December 2 & 3 as part of the group’s 26th annual Holiday Luminary Project benefiting CARTI Radiation Oncology in Searcy.
“The Luminary Project helps to connect people who care about cancer patients by giving them the opportunity to honor or memorialize someone with a gift that will benefit others fighting cancer,” says event chair Mary Jane Yingling, who also serves as auxiliary first vice president.
