Cyclists will gather Saturday, June 3, 2017 for the 14th Annual Tour de Rock, which benefits the work of CARTI Cancer Center in Little Rock, Ark. Funds raised through the cycling event will help CARTI assist with providing transportation, housing, and emotional and financial counseling to patients in need.  Since its inception, Tour de Rock has raised $1.3 million.   

When registering, cyclists can give the name of a friend, family member or colleague battling cancer and will receive a special bib to commemorate that person.

A nationally recognized expert in the field of couples therapy has joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to establish a program designed to treat those with issues related to interpersonal relationships.

G. Thomas Frazier Jr., MD, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as a hand and upper extremity surgeon. He will see patients at the UAMS Orthopedic Clinic on Shackleford Road.

He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine.

Chemotherapy for cancer causes a pro-inflammatory stress response that promotes adverse side effects and cancer relapse, says a research team that includes the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

Daohong Zhou, MD, associate director for basic research in the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, is a co-author of the study published Dec. 22 in Cancer Discovery.

After 18 years with the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS) Director Charlie Green has resigned from the agency to take a job in the private sector.

Jay Hill, Arkansas Health Center director, will be interim director of DBHS and will manage the division facilities, including the Arkansas State Hospital. Paula Stone, assistant director for DBHS, will have primary responsibility for programs and take a lead role in transformation.
