The Department of Human Services Division of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS) has renewed its contract with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to continue administering the Special Nutrition Program (SNP) lunch program for adolescents living at the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock. As part of the contract, DBHS is required to notify the media of its partnership with USDA. DBHS has participated in the program since 1999.
Nicki Hilliard, PharmD, a pharmacy professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), recently was honored with the 2017 Outstanding Woman Faculty Award by the UAMS Women’s Faculty Development Caucus.
Hilliard is a professor in the UAMS College of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Practice.

Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock has implanted the state’s first Total Artificial Heart on a 21-year-old from Jonesboro, Arkansas. The recipient, Chadarius Johnson, is recovering from the groundbreaking surgery, which took place on Tuesday, April 18.
Mayumi Nakagawa, MD, PhD, was invested April 26 as recipient of the Drs. Mae and Anderson Nettleship Chair in Oncologic Pathology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
She is a professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Sciences in the UAMS College of Medicine and co-leader of the Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences Program in the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
