Jason Demke recently joined Mercy Hospital Fort Smith as its new chief operating officer.

Demke replaces Ryan Geib, who is now president of Mercy Southeast Communities in Missouri. Demke began his new position with Mercy on March 18. Most recently, he served as COO for West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, and previously was vice president of operations at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Arkansas Mission of Mercy (ArMOM) is holding its two-day free dental clinic at the Conway Expo Center April 12-13. At the clinic, dental services are provided free of charge by a host of volunteers and sponsors. In the past 18 years, tens of thousands of patients have been treated thanks to the support of dedicated volunteers.

The event is held from 6 a.m.-4 p.m., with patients starting to arrive around 3 a.m. The Conway Expo Center is located at 2505 E. Oak St. in Conway.

A ceremony was held March 25 to celebrate eight separate banners celebrating Arkansans with developmental disabilities on display on outside of DHS Central Office.

Leading the event were DHS Secretary Kristi Putnam, DHS Medicaid Specialty Populations Director Melissa Weatherton, and Arkansans featured on banners plus their families.

CHI St. Vincent announced a partnership between parent company CommonSpirit Health and Morehouse School of Medicine of Atlanta that will expand CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs’ residency program, address a shortage of diverse clinicians, and lead to more equitable healthcare in Arkansas.

Baptist Health Community Outreach holds a variety of monthly classes to help central Arkansas residents make easy and delicious meals at home that won’t break the bank or health goals.

The Cooking with Community Outreach classes are taught by Baptist Health registered dietitian Samantha Stadter and are designed to help participants gain confidence in the kitchen. During each class, students will prepare, cook, and taste different dishes using a variety of ingredients. Topics include nutrition benefits, ingredient selection, money-saving tips, and more.
