UAMS Sets January Computer Classes for P...

Three computer classes — Computer Basics, Genealogy, and Intermediate Computers — and one computer workshop — One-on-One Computer Support — will be taught in January for people ages 50 and older at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.

The courses will be presented by the Little Rock Digital Learning Center (formerly SeniorNet), a nonprofit volunteer group. Courses begin Jan. 2. The schedule is:

Baptist Health Urgent Care Center Now Op...

Baptist Health Urgent Care-Cabot, Baptist Health’s fifth urgent care center, opened Dec. 11 in Cabot at 402 W. Main Street, next to First Baptist Church.

With no appointment needed, BHUC-Cabot patients are seen on a walk-in basis for a variety of medical needs, including asthma and allergies; flu, colds, and viral illnesses; bites, stings, and allergic reactions; sprains, strains, broken bones; burns; school, sports, and wellness physicals; immunizations and vaccinations; and Occupational Health services.

March of Dimes, Arkansas Hospital Associ...

Baptist Health’s labor and delivery units in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Arkadelphia, Stuttgart, and Hot Spring County have successfully reduced the number of medically unnecessary early births, giving more babies a healthy start in life, said the March of Dimes.

Baptist Health became the first system to receive recognition for all five birthing hospitals by developing and implementing policies and procedures to reduce medically unnecessary (elective) inductions and Cesarean deliveries scheduled before 39 weeks of pregnancy.

UAMS Research Grants Surge 53 Percent t...

Research funding at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) grew 53 percent during the last fiscal year, contributing to the Arkansas economy and bringing the potential to grow new businesses.

From $111.6 million in fiscal year 2016 to $170.6 million in fiscal year 2017, which ended June 30, the total amount of grant awards received by UAMS for medical and basic scientific research surged strongly.
