Science Café Little Rock, co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences(UAMS), will hold its next public forum, CSI & Evidence Collection, on May 22. Panelists will discuss crime scene best practices, types of evidence, collection methods, and how society defines and responds to crime.
Brittany Taylor became a mother in 2016. It wasn’t until she chose to breastfeed her child that Taylor, a student of Philander Smith College (PSC), realized that there was no place for parents to breastfeed on campus.
“I am glad to say, in 2018, I helped establish the first Nursing Nook on the Philander Smith College campus geared toward offering a space to students and employees who are nursing,” said Taylor, who is the 2017-2018 Miss Philander Smith College and a Healthy Active Arkansas ambassador.
Starting Aug. 1, individuals who have been adopted (adoptees) may request their adoption file from the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). Forms are now available online for birth parents who wish to redact their name from an adoption file, or update their contact or medical information.
In memory of pregnancy and infant loss, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Love Lives Program and Roller Funeral Homes dedicated the Love Lives Memorial at Riverwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Maumelle.
Love Lives, the UAMS perinatal bereavement program, worked with Roller Funeral Homes to establish the memorial garden as a final resting place for some. For others, it may be a consecrated place of quiet reflection where families and loved ones may come to feel close to their precious little ones whom they will always remember.
Omar T. Atiq, MD, FACP, has been named chair-elect of the board of governors of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the national organization of internists. His term began during Internal Medicine Meeting 2018, ACP’s annual scientific meeting held in New Orleans in April.
