Joseph Koon, MD, recently joined the team at Benton Family Clinic-A Baptist Health Affiliate.

Koon is from Little Rock. He received a medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and obtained residency training at UAMS Mercy Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program. He specializes in internal medicine.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will offer free HIV screenings, glucose readings, mental health assessments, and blood pressure checks Aug. 3 in McGehee.

The event will be held at the McGehee Men’s Club Community Center at 1 South Airport Road.

Called Party With a Purpose, it will begin with a resource fair and backpack drive from noon to 4 p.m. A free lunch will be provided. A talent show with special guest performances will follow from 4-8 p.m., with admission free for anyone who received an HIV screening.

Maras-Casey, a native of Istanbul, received an education at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, specializing in internal medicine.

CHI St. Vincent announced the appointment of Garrett Lewis, MD, to vice president of medical affairs for Central Arkansas. In his new role, Lewis will help oversee management and operations of CHI St. Vincent’s Central Arkansas medical staff.

Baptist Health Heart Failure and Transplant Institute recently welcomed Opal Flowers, APRN.

Flowers received an LPN from Baptist Health College Little Rock. She later received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University.
