Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced the conviction of a Pulaski County woman for drug fraud. Cheri Bates-West pleaded guilty in Pulaski County Circuit Court. Bates-West was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, as well as 40 hours of community service and drug screenings.
UAMS orthopaedic surgeons taught high school students to suture, cast and repair fractures as part of the Perry Outreach Program, a day-long course of workshops and lectures on Nov. 19, 2016.
The course is a program of The Perry Initiative, a national nonprofit, which aims to increase the number of women in orthopaedics and engineering through hands-on outreach programs targeted to female students in high school, college and medical school.

School Telemedicine in Arkansas (STAR) is the first ever effort to bring telemedicine care to Arkansas’ rural School-Based Health Centers with the intent to improve access to quality healthcare and address the unmet health needs of students and families. Decreased absenteeism and improved health outcomes are expected as a result.
