A group of Conway influencers hopes to take advantage of Arkansans’ passion for duck hunting, while also supporting men’s health programs at Conway Regional Health System. Proceeds also benefit the Lodging Assistance and Guest House program for patient families who live out of town and need short-term lodging.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) 12th St. Health & Wellness Center invites the public to participate in free healthcare services at its “March Man-ness Men’s Health Event” on March 24 at Saint Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock.
While this event focuses on men’s health, women are also invited to receive free blood pressure checks, glucose and cholesterol screenings, lipid testing, and physical examinations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free HIV testing will be available using a mouth swab.
The public is invited to hear Kayla Harrison, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo and childhood sexual abuse survivor, at 6 p.m. on April 4 at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.
The free lecture is being hosted by the University of Arkansas for Medical Science’s ARBEST (Arkansas Building Effective Services for Trauma) program and the Clinton School of Public Service in connection with National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
CHI St. Vincent Heart Institute electrophysiologists are now seeing patients in Hot Springs. Drs. Tom Wallace, Mangaraju (Raj) Chakka, and Prabhat Hebbar will be consulting with patients who otherwise would have to travel to a Little Rock clinic to receive care from an electrophysiologist.
This expansion of care to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs makes it easier for patients with heart arrhythmias, like atrial fibrillation (AFib), to be diagnosed and treated close to home.
A portion of the ninth floor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ (UAMS) Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute has been transformed into an instructive, collaborative center where ophthalmology residents and UAMS students can learn surgical techniques and procedures outside the confines of an operating room, thanks to a $600,000 donation from the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation.
