James E. McDonald, MD, FACR, chair of the Department of Radiology in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), was invested as the holder of the Ernest J. Ferris, MD, Chair in Diagnostic Radiology.
The Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will hold a free family caregiver workshop April 17 for those who would like to learn about caring for an adult with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

The Arkansas Department of Health has partnered with the Cabot School District to highlight artwork from students in second through fourth grade in ADH’s yearly Public Health Week poster. These drawings, part of an annual contest in Lonoke County, show students’ ideas about what it means to make healthy choices.
The artwork will be featured April 2 at 9 a.m. in the Cabot School District Central Administration Office boardroom, 602 North Lincoln St. in Cabot.
It’s hard to find highly skilled doctors disciplined in both pain medicine and anesthesiology in Arkansas. Because specialists with these combined skills are sorely needed, Drs. Sheffield Kent and Daniel Judkins recently returned to their home state to set up practice.

The International College of Dentists USA Section Board of Regents has named Niki C. Carter, DMD, director of the General Practice Residency (GPR) program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), the new Regent for District 12.
Her four-year term began Jan. 1, 2018. Region 12 includes Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
