The Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) celebrated and honored its foster parents of the year at a banquet at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion. 

As part of that celebration, the agency named Ashley and David Daniel of Rogers as its 2019 Statewide Foster Parents of the Year.

The Arkansas Geriatric Education Collaborative (AGEC) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received a five-year grant of $3.74 million to provide geriatric training.

The funding will provide training for geriatric health care professionals, primary care practitioners, first responders, caregivers, older adults, and those who provide services to older adults. Robin McAtee, PhD, assistant professor in the UAMS College of Medicine Department of Geriatrics, leads the collaborative.

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine - Arkansas – in collaboration with UAMS, St. Bernards Medical Center and Arkansas State University – will host free health screenings in Marked Tree and Walnut Ridge this week.

The Marked Tree event will take place on July 23 at the Marked Tree Library from 3:30-6:30 p.m.  The library is located at 102 Locust Street. On July 24, the NYITCOM team will be at the Lawrence County Library (115 W. Walnut Street) from 3-6 p.m.
