Dr. Chandra Lingisetty, an internal medicine specialist at Baptist Health, recently received the Top 100 Healthcare Leaders Award, conferred at the International Forum on Advancements in Healthcare in Las Vegas. 

Lingisetty, a graduate of Harvard University, attended the conference with more than 1,000 healthcare industry experts from around the world.

Dr. Adam Childs has joined the staff of Arkansas Urology in Bentonville.

Childs received his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He attended Brigham Young University and Rice University for undergraduate studies in biochemistry. After medical school, he completed his urology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he published multiple scientific articles and served as an instructor in urology and chief resident.

Mercy will name the new heart unit in its soon-to-open seven-story tower in recognition of the McMillon family after a gift from Doug and Shelley McMillon. The McMillon’s gift of $1 million to Mercy’s Opening Doors campaign will support its $277 million expansion in Northwest Arkansas.

The donation puts Mercy close to a total of $20 million in philanthropic support toward a goal of $25 million in the campaign.

Beginning in August, Baptist Health-Fort Smith will offer free childbirth education classes for area mothers to give them the confidence and support they need to enjoy their baby’s arrival.

The classes are taught by childbirth educators with a Lamaze-focused curriculum. Lamaze is an international childbirth education program which helps women learn to respond to pain during childbirth in a way that both increases comfort and facilitates labor.
