The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as having the best hospital in the state, and its ear, nose, and throat (ENT) department was ranked among the top 50 nationwide.
David George Grant, MD, began in May as an otolaryngologist at Mercy Clinic Ear, Nose, and Throat. Grant earned a medical degree from the University of Aberdeen School of Medicine in Scotland. He completed residencies in general surgery at NHS Education for Scotland North Region and in otolaryngology head and neck surgery at Severn Deanery in Bristol, England. He has fellowships in research at the Mayo Clinic and head and neck oncological surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Anne Bowes, DO, is now taking new patients at Baptist Health Women’s Clinic-Fort Smith. Bowes provides prenatal and postpartum care, as well as general wellness exams and surgical procedures for women of all ages. She also specializes in women’s sexual health and wellness, along with hormone therapy.

Mercy is providing $500,000 in grants to nearly 30 organizations in seven states that serve children, elderly, homeless, and uninsured people.
Since 1987, Mercy has awarded funds, now totaling more than $15 million, that provide medical care, counseling, housing, meals, and more. This year’s grants will benefit more than 48,000 people.
