The public is invited to attend the Flanigan-Boop Endowed Lectureship in Spinal Neurosurgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) at 5 p.m. on Oct. 16.

Andrew Jea, MD, MBA, a professor and chair of neurosurgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, will present a lecture on advances in neurosurgery on the 12th floor of the Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute on the Little Rock campus.

The title of the lecture is “Veritate Duce Progredi: Neuromuscular Scoliosis.”

Arkansas Hospice announced that its Family of Care is becoming LifeTouch Health.

The organization now provides a continuum of care with:

-Personal care providing in-home, non-medical support in Central Arkansas. This service was previously known as First Choice Senior Care.

-Primary care for seniors, where they live. This line of care has been known as Arkansas Advanced Care.

-Palliative Care for comfort and support beyond treatment at any age and stage of serious illness. This service was previously named Arkansas Palliative Care.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Nursing has received preaccreditation status from the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education to establish the state’s first nurse-midwifery program, which will launch in fall 2026.
