Cowan, PhD, RN, FAAN, joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences as dean of the College of Nursing in 2015. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a master’s in nursing from the University of Kansas, and a PhD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a member of the Southern Nursing Research Society. Her retirement in August 2025 will cap a 44-year career in nursing research and administration.
