Baptist Health Announces Leadership Promotions Baptist Health recently announced promotions to its system leadership. Joni Stephenson has been promoted to corpo- rate vice president of human resources for Bap- tist Health. She has been in human resources roles since 2003, including 16 years at Baptist Health, where she began in central staffing nurse recruit- ment in 2005. In her most recent role, Stephenson served as corporate director of human resources, oversee- ing talent acquisition, compensation, ADA/FMLA/ unemployment, as well as employee branding. She will assume responsibility of the entire Human Resources Department as she continues to report to Baptist Health Chief Human Resources Officer Cathy Dickinson. Stephenson received a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from Arkansas State University and a Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University. HyeJin Son has been appointed to the role of corporate vice president for oncology services. In this role, Son will steer cancer services for all of Baptist Health. She will actively lead the devel- opment of a system-wide strategic plan for oncol- ogy services and procedures, and engage teams in establishing approaches for oncology. Also, Son will oversee financial performance, resource plan- ning, clinical efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Son began her career with Baptist Health in 2011 as a pharmacy intern at Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock. She has most recently served as the director of pharmacy for Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock since 2019. In the interim, Son will continue her pharmacy responsibilities. Son obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Central Arkansas, and Doc- torate of Pharmacy from Harding University. In addition, Son completed a PGY-1 pharmacy res- idency in Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Baptist Health Fellows Promoted to New Positions Baptist Health announced the promotions of two Baptist Health corporate fellows to new positions within the healing ministry. Destiney Walker has been named director of business operations for patient navigation. Randon Carlton is now director of hospital operations for Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart and Baptist Health Medical Center-Heber Springs. Walker earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education and Promotion from the Uni- versity of Central Arkansas and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Prior to Baptist Health, Walker worked for four years at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sci- ences in the nursing service line for UAMS’ outpa- tient clinic and research institute. In her new role, Walker leads clinical operations of a soon-to-open Little Rock pregnancy clinic as well as the growth and expansion of future pregnancy clinics improving prenatal care access in Arkansas. She works directly with the Baptist Health corporate vice president of women’s and children’s services in strategic planning and imple- mentation of maternal navigation; a comprehen- sive strategy to expand access to prenatal care; and other women and children’s initiatives. Carlton earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of Cen- tral Arkansas and a Master of Health Administra- tion from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Before joining Baptist Health, Carlton worked at UAMS for two years, supporting three service lines – neurology, med-surg, and respiratory ther- apy – while also managing their budgets and pro- ductivity reports. In his new role, Carlton will be working directly with the regional hospital presidents, while over- seeing daily operations of the Heber Springs and Stuttgart hospitals. This includes managing and developing staff, ensuring budget/productivity goals are met, and maintaining compliance and quality assurance, while also working to execute strategic regional initiatives. CARTI FoundationWelcomes Two New BoardMembers The CARTI Foundation recently welcomed long- time supporters Cathy Gammill of Little Rock and Jordan Longnecker of El Dorado to its board. Cathy Gammill is a self-employed professional organizer with an extensive background in social marketing. She previously worked in the finan- cial industry as a senior client associate at Merrill Lynch. A graduate of Baylor University, she is also actively involved at Immanuel Baptist Church and Little Rock Christian Academy. Jordan Longnecker is a family nurse practitio- ner with CABUN Rural Health Services. She has more than five years of clinical nursing experience in South Arkansas. She is a cum laude graduate of Southern Arkansas University and Chamber- lain College of Nursing.
