ROSA Hip is a robotic surgical assistant designed to help surgeons perform minimally invasive hip replacement surgery. Data provided by ROSA Hip provides surgeons with an optimized view of the hip joint during surgery, allowing for greater accuracy of hip implant placement tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy. According to Kris Hanby, MD, medical director of Washington Regional’s Total Joint Center, more precise implant positioning leads to better results for patients. “The minimally invasive procedure with ROSA Hip is designed to accelerate recov- ery time and reduce pain,” said Hanby. “We're fortunate to have this technology, and Washing- ton Regional is leading the way in innovation and technology in Northwest Arkansas.” Baptist HealthMedical Center-Heber Springs Implements MRI Known for Calming Care Experience Baptist Health Medical Center-Heber Springs recently implemented an enhanced, state-of-the- art MRI technology that is shown to create a more calming experience for patients. “We are dedicated to investing in technol- ogy like the Philips Ambient Experience in the rural areas of Arkansas,” said Kevin Storey, pres- ident of Baptist Health Medical Center-Heber Springs. “This MRI is yet another way for us to transform the care experience and better serve our patients.” The Philips Ambient Experience MRI integrates dynamic lighting, video projection, and audio components to soothe anxiousness. The relax- ation techniques delivered by the technology in turn contribute to a smoother completion of MRI examinations. Medical scans can be scary for anyone, but for children in particular, they may be traumatic. The Ambient Experience distracts children using these components to reassure, coach, and relax them when they are about to undergo a medical treatment. A survey of the MRI technology showed an 80% reduction in sedation and 70% reduction in res- cans. Of the respondents, 83% rated the Ambi- ent Experience as impactful in alleviating patient anxiety.
