The CARTI Surgery Center includes eight private overnight rooms, 12 recovery rooms, 14 pre- and post-op rooms, and six large operating rooms, two of which have da Vinci robotic-assisted tech- nology. The center also features an interventional radiology suite, a dedicated cystoscopy room for urology procedures, and a minor procedure room. It is expected to create up to 80 new jobs, bring- ing CARTI’s total employment in the state to more than 900. NARMC’s McCutchen is Arkansas Outstanding Nurse Educator Nominee North Arkansas Regional Medical Center (NARMC) announced that Delbert McCutchen, MSN, RN, AEMT, director of employee education, has been nominated for the recognition of Arkan- sas’ Outstanding Nurse Educator 2023. As a nurse educator for more than 19 years, McCutchen started teaching CPR in 1992 and received a nursing degree in 2004. In 2010, he was the AR Saves Nurse Facilitator of the Year and, in 2018, was a nominee for Compassionate Nurse of the Year. Delbert leads the NARMC Education Depart- ment, which provides education experience to the public and other healthcare providers. Donna Boehm, NARMC chief nursing officer, said, “Delbert consistently demonstrates a pas- sion for teaching, mentorship, and innovation. He embodies the spirit of nursing education, shaping competent and compassionate caregivers who will make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. His contribution not only enriches our hospital but also influences the broader nurs- ing community. We are very proud of Delbert and glad to have him on our NARMC team.” Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary Raises More Than $100,000 fromEvent Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) Auxiliary hosted A la Carte on April 13, featuring 25 din- ing establishments across central Arkansas. The tasting event raised more than $100,000 in net proceeds, which will provide critical funds needed to support expert pediatric care at ACH. More than 500 people attended the annual event, which was held in person for the first time since 2019. DJ JellyBean provided music for the occasion while patrons danced and mingled in the Angel One Transport Hangar, a new venue for the event. CARTI Welcomes Urologist John Paul Brizzolara, MD CARTI has welcomed John Paul Brizzolara, MD, to its team. Brizzolara will see patients at the pro- vider’s campus in Little Rock and the CARTI Can- cer Center in Pine Bluff. Brizzolara has practiced at Ozark Urology in Fayetteville, Brizzolara Urology & Associates in Benton, the Central Arkansas Veterans Health- care System, and Arkansas Urology Associates in Little Rock. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve, including as a staff urologist at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley, Kansas, and Brooke Army Medical Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. A graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, he is certified by the American Board of Urology. He is also a member of the American Urological Asso- ciation and the American College of Surgeons. Baptist HealthMedical Center-Conway Names Chief Nursing Officer A nursing executive with two decades of expe- rience, Micah Johnson, MSN, MHA, RN, NE-BC, recently joined Baptist Health Medical Center- Conway as chief nursing officer. In 2003, he graduated from the Baptist Health School of Nursing, now Baptist Health College Little Rock and later received an RN-BSN from Arkansas Tech University, and a Master of Sci- ence in Nursing from Texas A&M University in Texarkana. “Micah joins our team with many years of incred- ible experience in nursing and leadership,” said April Bennett, president of Baptist Health Medi- cal Center-Conway. “We are extremely grateful to have him join our team, and we know he will be a great addition to the amazing culture we have at Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway.” Johnson most recently served as vice presi- dent and CNO at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospi- tal in San Marcos, Texas. Before that, he served as facility administrator and CNO for CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital in Atlanta, Texas, and as inten- sive care unit nurse manager for CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System. Johnson permanently takes the position pre- viously held by Bennett, who was promoted to president of Baptist Health Medical Center-Con- way in November. Arkansas Children’s Major Construction Slated for Hospitals Arkansas Children’s will embark on its most ambitious clinical expansion later this summer. “This plan includes recruiting more than 100 new providers and 400 new team members, add- ing new programs, and building and modernizing facilities,” said President and CEOMarcy Doderer, FACHE.
