Smyth, MD, PhD, UAMS executive vice chancellor and dean of the college. “Dr. Raney is an outstanding leader and scientist.” Election as an AAAS fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. Raney is being recognized in the chemistry cate- gory for his contributions to the field of molecular motor proteins on nucleic acids and the function of G-quadruplex nucleic acids during response to cellular stress. Arkansas Urology Announces NewChief Nursing Officer Arkansas Urology announced Ashley Lawhon of Little Rock as their new chief nursing officer. Lawhon, who graduated from Baptist Health School of Surgical Technology in 2002 as a surgi- cal tech, went on to graduate from Baptist Health School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 2006. She then became a perioperative services charge nurse at OrthoArkansas and then an operating room charge nurse at Arkansas Surgical Hospital. Most recently, she has been with Pain Treatment Centers of America as an administrator and chief operating officer where she oversaw daily opera- tions for 10 clinic locations and seven ambulatory surgery centers. Lawhon will oversee all clinical nursing opera- tions along with managing ancillary services and clinic-based surgical and procedure services at Arkansas Urology’s Little Rock campus and North Little Rock campus. Conway Regional Opens Maternal Fetal Medicine Center Conway Regional Health System announced the opening of the Conway Regional Maternal Fetal Medicine Center. The center is located on the hospital campus at 2200 Ada Ave., Suite 200, and is led by perinatologist Dawn S. Hughes, MD, Stacey M. Johnson, APRN, and sonographers Jyl Sullivan and Kristen Thomsen. “In order to meet the growing needs of the communities we serve, Conway Regional has made the concerted effort to offer new services and expanded access to care,” said Matt Troup, President and CEO of Conway Regional Health System. “It is a tremendous advantage for women with a high-risk pregnancy to find the specialty services they need close to home in Conway. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Hughes and her team to Conway Regional.” Hughes completed a three-year fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and was an assis- tant professor of obstetrics-gynecology on the UAMS faculty. Additionally, she completed a res- idency in obstetrics-gynecology and achieved a medical degree at UAMS. She is double board- certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as an OB-GYN as well as a maternal- fetal medicine specialist. Johnson is an obstetrics-gynecology nurse practitioner who works closely with Hughes to care for women with high-risk pregnancies. She also provides general gynecology care for women at every stage of life. Alicia Asbury, MD, Joins CHI St. Vincent Pediatric Clinic in Hot Springs CHI St. Vincent announced that Alicia Asbury, MD, has joined the team of pediatricians at the CHI St. Vincent Pediatric Clinic in Hot Springs. Asbury is now seeing patients at the clinic, located at 225 McAuley Court. After attending medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Asbury com- pleted an internship and residency in pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Asbury is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The physicians and nurse practitioners at the CHI St. Vincent Pediatric Clinic provide all immunizations required by the American Acad- emy of Pediatrics, preventive care, sick care, and quality time with parents and families to help them understand health issues and treatments. Former CareLink COO Returns as Board Treasurer CareLink, Central Arkansas’s Area Agency on Aging, welcomes Nick Fair, Sandra Prater, and Joy Scates to its board of directors. Each mem- ber will bring financial, operational, and business management experience that will help the North Little Rock nonprofit continue to serve older peo- ple in Central Arkansas. Their terms were effec- tive Jan. 1 of this year. Scates, former chief operating officer and vice president of finance for CareLink, returns to the nonprofit as a member of the board of directors. Previously serving the North Little Rock non- profit for 28 years, Scates retired in July of 2021. Scates will serve on the executive committee as treasurer. Fair, a CPA and certified financial planner with Fair & Company, joins CareLink’s board for his first three-year term. Prater, who sat out a year in 2021, is a former state representative and CareLink board chair. She begins a new term bringing with her 16 years of previous CareLink board experience. In addition to Scates as treasurer, CareLink’s executive committee in 2022 consists of Lit- tle Rock Foot Clinic’s Terri Cohen, MD, (chair), Polk Stanley Wilcox’s David Porter (chair elect), and Ameriprise Financial Services’ Robin Gann (secretary).
