Clinton Horan, MD, board-certified neurol- ogist, recently joined the active medical staff of Northwest Health, practicing at Northwest Neu- rology - Fayetteville. The clinic is located at 1695 E. Rainforest Rd., Suite 4 in Fayetteville, and he is currently accepting new patients. Horan earned a medical degree at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He completed an internal medicine internship and neurology res- idency at the University of Utah School of Medi- cine in Salt Lake City. Arkansas Children’s Achieves Record Rankings on U.S. News &World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals List Arkansas Children’s made record advancements on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals list, celebrating the most service lines in which the state’s only pediatric health system has ever ranked. Seven Arkansas Children’s spe- cialty services are among the best in the nation, according to the list. In addition, Arkansas Children’s continues to be among the most decorated health systems in the state, ranked in the most specialty services across all U.S. News & World Report’s annual surveys. The state’s only pediatric health system announced having the following programs ranked on the 2022/2023 Best Children’s Hospitals list: • Cancer (42) (first time ranked). • Cardiology & Heart Surgery (44). • Diabetes & Endocrinology (29). • Nephrology (34). • Neurology & Neurosurgery (48). • Pulmonology & Lung Surgery (24). • Urology (40). “These record rankings validate the journey Arkansas Children’s is on as we strive to create a future where every Arkansas child can reach their full potential,” said Arkansas Children’s presi- dent and CEO Marcy Doderer, FACHE. “While U.S. News & World Report highlights seven of our outstanding service lines, the reality is that team members in every department contributed to these advancements in care. The entire Arkan- sas Children’s team is to be congratulated!” The 16th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rank- ings recognize the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S. in 10 pediatric specialties: cancer, cardi- ology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocri- nology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal sur- gery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology. Arkansas Children’s also ranked seventh in regional rankings released by U.S. News & World Report . Arkansas Children’s is ranked within the Southeast Region along with pediatric hospi- tals from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. A hospital’s regional ranking status is assessed by evaluating the total number of spe- cialties the hospital was ranked in — better rank- ings are assigned to hospitals with more nation- ally ranked service lines. Valero, Big Red Celebrate Combined Gifts of More Than $2 million to Support Arkansas Children’s Longtime supporters Valero and Big Red are celebrating milestones as both mark more than $1 million in giving to Arkansas Children’s. Valero’s $1 million gift, combined with Big Red’s fundraising success totaling $1 million, means that combined gifts of more than $2 million will go toward supporting children and families at Arkansas Children’s. “From advocacy to fundraising, Big Red and Valero have been champions for children and sup- ported our vision of unprecedented child health, defined and delivered for years,” said Fred Scar- borough, president of Arkansas Children’s Foun- dation. “With the critical support of community partners like Valero and Big Red, Arkansas Chil- dren’s has treated sick and injured children for more than a century.” Big Red has partnered with Arkansas Children’s since 2009. This year, through its annual campaign, Big Red surpassed the $1 million milestone by raising $174,997 during their annual campaign, which included a helicopter cardstock campaign and selling cookies at each of its gas station reg- isters to help raise funds. The money Big Red raises annually goes to Arkansas Children’s greatest need fund. Valero’s history of giving to Arkansas Children’s began in 2017. In 2018, Valero made its first dona- tion to oral health outreach. In 2019, Valero com- mitted a $1 million pledge to Arkansas Children’s Dental Outreach program. “Valero is proud to partner with Arkansas Chil- dren’s and support the growth of the Dental Out- reach programs to provide a better quality of life for children in the region,” said Noel Lagunas, Valero’s director of wholesale marketing. “We are proud of the many ways we are able to sup- port Arkansas Children’s advance its promise of unprecedented child health.” Since 2009, the Dental Outreach program has provided 15,835 patient visits and 17,518 proce- dures through four mobile dental clinics, screened 48,100 children and provided fluoride applica- tions, and applied more than 79,000 dental seal- ants through the dental sealant program. To commemorate this milestone, members of both Valero and Big Red gathered at Arkansas Children’s on May 19 for a Day of Giving, which included members of both organizations partici- pating in volunteer projects that directly help sup- port and drive Arkansas Children’s mission. n
