Project H.E.A.R.T. stands for Health Education Advocacy Reflection and Training, and the pro- gram is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors to explore healthcare careers, learn about healthcare needs in the Delta, and dis- cover ways they can make a difference in health care challenges in their communities. Project H.E.A.R.T. is aimed at students who would ben- efit from an opportunity to excel. “The program is a one-of-a-kind experience that can open doors to enlighten students about a future career opportunities in healthcare and to the overall well-being of their community,” said Dr. Amanda Deel, Assistant dean of clinical edu- cation and Project H.E.A.R.T. Director. During the first day of the camp, Project H.E.A.R.T. attendees participated in interactive activities in NYITCOM’s medical simulation lab, osteopathic manipulative medicine lab, and edu- cational medical clinic. Later, students led a ser- vice project at VPA Elementary School during the day, and that evening, they participated in a suture lab through which they’ll learn about how physicians repair lacerations. Other activities focused on preparing for col- lege and choosing a career as guests from multi- ple universities spoke about the higher education process, financial aid, and potential career oppor- tunities. Participants received basic life support training before attending a graduation ceremony. Dr. SyedMustafa Joins CHI St. Vincent Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic in Hot Springs CHI St. Vincent announced that Dr. Syed Mus- tafa has joined the team of pulmonologists at the Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic in Hot Springs, and will begin seeing patients in July at the clinic, located at 1 Mercy Lane, Suite 401. Mustafa attended medical school at the Deccan College of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, India, and completed a residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he also completed fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Mustafa has certifica- tions in critical care medicine, internal medicine, and pulmonary disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
